CHS Band State Qualifying Students

On Saturday, Jan 7th, seven of our students represented Castleberry at the Area level of band competition in Robinson, Texas. All of our students ranked in the top half and higher in their instrument. Three of our students made the Association of Texas Small School Bands All-State Band. This is the highest achievement any band student can earn individually. More than 9,000 students auditioned for 295 spots in the bands and 3 of our students earned this honor and will get to rehearse and perform amongst the cream of the crop in Texas band members in February at the TMEA Convention. These students will audition one more time at the convention to see where they rank at the State level, and determine whether they will be performing with the Concert Band or Symphonic Band. Their performance will be on February 11th in San Antonio. Dr. Jeff Gershman from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio will conduct the Concert Band and Dr. Joseph Missal from Oklahoma State University will conduct the Symphonic Band. This is also Mr. Perez's third time to be a member of the ATSSB All-State Band, a distinction which has earned him a college scholarship! Please congratulate them on this momentous achievement!
