Come and visit us this year at Castleberry Cares Health Fair 2020. The Child Nutrition Team will have a booth located in the North Gym and will be providing information on our services here at Castleberry ISD. We will be sampling and demoing a brown rice salad, that will help you utilize some of the leftovers you may have in your fridge. Students can earn their way in a drawing for a bike by completing

Chef John will also be collaborating with the culinary class to provide a hot breakfast to our busy vendors. Vendors will have their choice of a freshly made Belgium Waffle, and scrambled eggs with bacon or sausage. Students will even bring their breakfast to their booth!

JR. CHEF COMPETITION

Our Jr. Chef Competition is coming to an end. Please make sure you get your applications in before we leave for Spring Break on March 12th. Chef John and Sara will be reading over your recipes and tallying your scores so we can crown a winner when we return from break.

COME AND EAT IT EVENTS

Chef John has been able to visit the Garden Club a few times this year and they love when he brings ingredients to try. If you have students that you would like to reward with a fun treat, please let Sara Bintrim know and we can schedule a “Come and Eat it Event” at your campus. We will come with some seasonal exotic ingredients for your students to try, such as lychee, kiwi, dragon fruit and others. You can use this as a free incentive for your students. Please keep to groups of less than 15.

LUNCH WITH THE CHEF
Don’t forget to book your date with lunch with the Chef. Chef John can meet with a small group of your students to talk about the menu and nutrition. This is a free event for your campus, we will just need a roster of the student names of who will be eating with us. The information we gain from these meetings will help us to personalize our menus to better meet our students needs. Contact Sara Bintrim or John Ribbins to set up your day.

DISCOVERY DAY
Each month the cafeteria provides a new ingredient for the students to try, that they may not have seen before. Previous Discovery Day ingredients include dried apricots, pumpkin seeds, cherries, white chocolate, beets, and kumquats. What will it be this month?

WHAT'S NEXT
Next month we will continue the Lunch with the Chef, and Come and Eat it Events at campuses. We will be preparing for the Education Foundation Gala and will have promotions including Grilled Cheese Day and Pretzel Day. We will also begin booking our dates for our cookouts at campuses for lunch.
