Substitute Opportunities

Rewarding work in Education is right around the corner!
Substitute Teaching is great way to start your education career, enrich the lives of students, give back to the community, and so much more.

Step 1 - Substitute Application
Applications are submitted through the district's online application system

Step 2 - Candidate Review
The submitted online application and credentials are reviewed to ensure the applicant is a qualified candidate. The Castleberry ISD requires 48+ credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university as a qualification to work as a substitute teacher. Applicants with less than 48+ credit hours on their transcripts, who have a high school diploma or GED, are eligible to substitute as teacher aides.

Step 3 - Processing
Candidate is notified via email to print the packet of Substitute Hiring Documents listed below. Human Resources office staff will set an appointment for you to submit these forms along with official college transcripts, high school diploma/GED, certificates, and review the Substitute Handbook.
-- District Application
-- Letter of Reasonable Assurance
-- Texas Employer New Hire Reporting
-- I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification along with current, original identification (for a list of acceptable forms of identification, see the list of approved documentation on the I-9 form)
-- W4
-- Statement Concerning Social Security
-- Direct Deposit Form along with a voided check or a deposit form from the bank/financial institution
-- Public Information Access Notification
-- Affordable Care Act Notification
-- Consent for Criminal Record Search
-- TRS-Insurance Enrollment or Declination
-- Substitute Handbook Acknowledgement Receipt

Step 4 - Fingerprinting and Background Check

In compliance with Senate Bill 9, substitute candidates are required to submit to background check and fingerprinting. The cost of fingerprinting is approximately $50.00 and is the candidate’s responsibility. This is a one-time fee & processing and is valid for any Texas school district. The Human Resources department will contact you with further instructions regarding your fingerprinting.

Step 5 - Assignments
Candidate is notified via email of approval and begins accepting assignments in Frontline’s Online Absence Management system.
