How old does my child need to be to enroll in Pre-K?

Your child must be 4-years old on or before September 1 to enroll in Pre-K.

Does my child have to qualify to enroll in Pre-K?

Students who do not qualify under federal guidelines can still attend Pre-K in Castleberry ISD. An Out of District Transfer Application must be completed for students who live outside of the district.

What are the federal guidelines to qualify for Pre-K?

To qualify for Pre-K, students must meet one or more of the following federal guidelines

  • Be educationally disadvantaged (eligible to participate in the National School Lunch Program)
  • Be unable to speak and comprehend the English language
  • Be homeless
  • Be a child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority
  • Be the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty
  • Have ever been in the conservatorship of the Texas DFPS (foster care) following an adversary hearing

When can I pre-register my child for Pre-K?

Online pre-registration begins April 1. Parents will finalize registration in July.

What documents are required for pre-registration?

  • Birth certificate
  • Parent/Guardian ID
  • Immunization record
  • Proof of residency (gas, water, electric bill, or lease agreement)
  • Proof of income- last two paycheck stubs (if qualifying by income)

If there are no open spots at a school what do I do?

We will help you find a campus that still has available spots.

Do I have to live in the Castleberry ISD attendance zone for my child to attend Pre-K?

You do not have to live within the Castleberry ISD attendance zone for your child to attend Pre-K. However, you must complete an Out of District Transfer Application.

Who receives priority?

Priority is given to students who qualify under the federal guidelines and reside in the neighborhood of the campus (proof of residence required).

Do all schools have Pre-K?

Yes, all Castleberry ISD Elementary schools have a Pre-Kindergarten program. 

Can my child attend the same school for kindergarten if it is not our home campus?

No, all students must attend their home campus for kindergarten. Parents of out of district students must complete an Out of District Transfer Application for each school year.

Is transportation provided?

Transportation is not provided for Pre-K students.

Is Pre-K full day or half day?

All Castleberry ISD Pre-K classes are full day from 7:30 AM until 3:30 PM.
