Dress Code Highlights

In preparation for life after High School, students should learn that the context of their activities may dictate the appropriateness of dress and personal appearance. Students and parents should remember these highlights when planning school outfits.

Backpack Requirements

The safety of all students and staff is the top priority in Castleberry ISD. Clear or mesh backpacks are required for all CISD students.Rolling backpacks are not permitted at the school. Any questions concerning the use of backpacks can be directed to the Director of Human Resources, the Executive Director of Elementary Education, or the Executive Director of Secondary Education at (817) 252-2000.


  • Halter tops, tank tops, spaghetti-strap type dresses, dresses with sleeves cut of, torn or "holey" apparel, fishnet, sheer, or other see-through type dresses shall not be worn.

  • Students at all grade levels may wear shorts, but "short shorts" are forbidden. Garments such as skirts, dresses, and shorts must be longer than the tips of the fingers when the student's arms, hands, and fingers are extended down the student's leg 

  • Over-sized or excessively tight clothing is not permitted. Pants must fit at the waist and in the seat. Shoes must be visible from all lines of sight. Holes in pants or shirts will not be permitted. Shirts longer than the bottom seam of the back pants pocket must be tucked in.

  • Undergarments must not be visible.

  • Garments must cover entire back, cleavage, chest, and stomach.

  • Hats, caps, visors, bandannas, or headgear of any kind are not to be worn in school.

  • Elementary school students should not wear heelys, flip-flops, or similar footwear.

  • Apparel designed for sleepwear will not be permitted

  • Bizarre dress or clothing that makes even casual reference to drugs or drug paraphernalia, alcohol, tobacco, electronic cigarettes or other electronic vaporizing devices, gangs, weapons, violence, sexual innuendos, satanic or hostile implications, profanity, organizations or groups (whether real or fictitious) which promote any of the above, or other statement, reference, or depiction deemed inappropriate by the administration or misrepresenting the policy or other lawful organizations shall not be worn.

  • Any dress determined by the principal to be related to gangs will not be permitted on school property, including but not limited to colors, emblems, or style of clothing. Sleeves may not be worn so as to cover the student's hands.


  • Piercings are allowed in the earlobe only. Gauges are not permissible. Boys may wear one small loop earring or stud in each ear. Body piercing of the nose, eyebrow, tongue, or any other visible area other than the ear will not be allowed.

  • Visible tattoos of any kind are not permitted.

  • Hair should be kept neat, clean, and out of eyes. Only natural hair colors will be permitted. Styles which call undue attention to the wearer (such as mohawks, etchings, etcetera), or are disruptive will not be permitted.

  • Picture ID's are required to be worn at all times during school hours by all middle and high school students while on campus.
