Kindergarten Curriculum

What do students learn in Kindergarten?

Castleberry ISD implements the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills to guide all instruction. Our highly qualified teachers are committed to providing exceptional learning experiences as they differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners in: Language Arts, and Reading, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, Fine Arts, and Technology.

Our Kindergarten program is enhanced with the use of the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Into Reading/¡Arriba la Lectura! literacy curriculum. It is a research-based curriculum that is differentiated to ensure a balanced approach to literacy instruction. Students develop skills in reading comprehension, writing, phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, spelling, listening, and speaking.

Math instruction and assessments are enhanced with the use of the Developing Number Concepts series and Assessing Math Concepts (AMC) assessments. Every math concept is developed through interactive instruction with hands-on experiences that support the development of strong math foundational skills. AMC assessments provide teachers with data that is utilized to provide students with instruction that is differentiated to meet their needs.
