Castleberry ISD Art Students Shine in Recent Competitions
Visual Art Students from Castleberry High School recently competed in the Visual Art Scholastic Event held at Azle High School and captured a staggering number of students advancing to Area with a total of 58 students earning a perfect score of 4. Joshua H scored high enough to advance to the coveted State VASE Competition held in San Marcos on April 27. Ms. Rachel Cecil and Ms. Jazmin Gonzalez teach all of these talented students.

The CHS Lion Band competed in the UIL Region 30 Solo and Ensemble Competition held at Aledo High School on Saturday, February 17th. Both ensembles impressed the judges enough to advance to the coveted UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble Competition in Austin on May 25th!

Mariachi Los Leones made their second trip to the UIL State Mariachi Festival on February 22nd, held in the beautiful Seguin ISD Performing Arts Center. Several of the state's top mariachis competed over the course of three days with the ultimate goal of giving their best performance to earn the top rating of a UIL First Division. Mariachi Los Leones exceeded expectations by not only earning the top rating of a first division, but they also placed the 2nd highest number of UIL Outstanding Performers among all of the 3A and 4A schools competing! A special congratulations goes to the following UIL Outstanding Performers from Mariachi Los Leones: Karla A, Jacqueline C, Sofia G, Fatima R, Robert R, Steve S, Camilla T, and Daisy V!

Castleberry ISD offers the Acceleration in Math (AIM) program to students in kindergarten through fifth grade who are currently enrolled in the district and meet specific eligibility criteria. Students who qualify for AIM have the opportunity to advance in math beyond their enrolled grade level.

On Saturday, February 10th, the Castleberry Esports team, comprising 16 students from Castleberry High School (CHS) and Irma Marsh Middle School (IMMS), participated in the 2024 Burleson Independent School District (BISD) Esports Winter Invitational. The event saw a turnout of over 215 students from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, each competing in one of the following games: Rocket League, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, NBA2k, and Fortnite.

Castleberry ISD Board of Education Election 2024: Key Dates and Candidate Information
Castleberry ISD's Board of Education Election will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024. Place 3 and Place 4 on the District’s Board are up for election. The Castleberry ISD Board of Education consists of seven at large board members serving terms of three years, with elections held annually.  
Free Tech Fundamentals Program for High School Graduates
Castleberry ISD and NPower Texas Expand Free Tech Fundamentals Program to Graduates
Castleberry ISD is looking for recent graduates and community members between the ages of 18 and 26 who are looking to start a career in tech. The district is partnering with NPower to offer a tuition-free Tech Fundamentals program that will provide participants the skills needed to fast-track their tech career and be job ready in six months. Those interested do not need to have prior technology skills or training.

During a Castleberry ISD school board meeting, Superintendent Renee Smith-Faulkner received a surprising and heartwarming recognition. Dr. Steven Moss, the Director of Fine Arts, revealed a well-kept secret from Item 7B on the agenda. The Texas Music Educators Association recognized Mrs. Smith-Faulkner as a distinguished administrator, an honor rare in the state. Dr. Moss highlighted the Association's global uniqueness and impressive statistics, and Mrs. Smith-Faulkner was presented with a bouquet of roses symbolizing her years of service. The surprise continued with an upcoming honor from the Fort Worth City Council, showcasing the district's commitment to fine arts education.

Castleberry ISD welcomes Christina Jarvis as the district’s newest Innovation Leader. Jarvis joins Castleberry ISD from Carroll ISD where she has served as an Instructional Technology Specialist for a year. She started her career in education 25 years ago as a special education teacher in Fort Worth ISD.

Since 1990, Castleberry ISD and the River Oaks Lions Club have joined forces to educate students and the community about the dangers of using drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. Annually, Red Ribbon Week encourages parents, educators, business owners, and other community organizations to promote drug-free lifestyles during the week of October 23rd through 31st.

Diana Colby Named Incoming District Lead/High School Librarian
Castleberry ISD welcomes Diana Colby as the district’s incoming lead/high school librarian. Colby joins Castleberry ISD from Keller ISD where she served as a librarian at all levels and most recently as the district library facilitator for the past 11 years. She started her career in education 16 years ago as a Texas History Teacher in Keller ISD.

Castleberry Independent School District officials announced that the district received a rating of “A” for “Superior Achievement” under Texas’ School FIRST financial accountability rating system. The “Superior Achievement” rating is the state’s highest, demonstrating the quality of Castleberry ISD’s financial management and reporting system.

The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) announced the 68 winners of the 2023 District of Distinction Award. Among the list of honorees is Castleberry Independent School District. The districts received the honor for providing a well-rounded education that advocates and integrates visual arts curriculum to inspire creativity and build social emotional learning that connect learners to their community and beyond.

Castleberry ISD is a recipient of the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center grants. This grant is intended to provide Castleberry ISD students with academic support, enrichment activities (including STEAM, sports, gaming, and more), social-emotional learning, leadership skills, high-impact tutoring (HIT), snack and dinner.

Smith joins Castleberry ISD from Birdville ISD where she served as a Site Coordinator and Family Engagement Specialist for the past two years. She started her career in education five years ago as Federal Programs Assistant and Parent Liaison at Franklin County School District.

Prior to joining Castleberry ISD, she started her career in education at Fort Worth ISD, where she was a third and fourth grade teacher.

Traffic Routes for Each Campus
Castleberry ISD welcomes all students back for the 2023-2024 school year on Wednesday, August 9! In preparation for the first day, parents are encouraged to be aware of the traffic flow for each campus. While school is in session, please be extra cautious in traffic. Be aware that school traffic zones will be in effect during morning drop off and afternoon dismissal. Students will be walking to and from school, so please be cautious while driving and be aware of pedestrians.

Reynolds joins Castleberry ISD from Fort Worth ISD where she served as a secondary English Language Arts teacher and department leader for the past three years. She started her career in education 10 years ago in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD where she was first an English teacher at the high school level and later an English teacher and AVID site coordinator at the middle school level.
