Congratulations Kristen Schmitt ELA Coordinator [grades 3-5]

Castleberry ISD is thrilled to announce the promotion of Kristen Schmitt as the district’s new ELA Coordinator for grades 3-5. Schmitt has served the Castleberry Independent School District for the past five years, most recently as Literacy Instructional Coach. Prior to her most recent role, Schmitt was a fourth grade ELAR teacher at Joy James Academy of Leadership. She started her career in education at Fort Worth ISD, where she was a kinder, third, and fourth grade teacher.

Kristen graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She became alternatively certified after finding her passion for helping students reach their goals. She obtained her Masters in Educational Leadership from Texas Wesleyan University. As a believer in continuous growth, Kristen is currently working towards Principal Certification.

During her 13 years in education, Schmitt has been a literacy instructional coach, campus model teacher, and team lead. She has facilitated district and campus-wide PD over tier 1 instruction, intentional student grouping with quality group work, and empowering students with goal setting to drive student efficacy. Kristen collaborated with other Castleberry leaders to construct the Literacy Framework.

Although she loves to travel, Kristen has always resided in Fort Worth. She and her husband, Ryan, are blessed with two children, Henry (6) and Adeleine (2). In her free time, you might see Kristen at estate sales or antique malls, as she has a passion for all things vintage. She also enjoys reading, crafting wreaths, making floral arrangements, and decorating.

With a dedication to collaboration, Kristen aims to support teachers in making informed, intentional, and data-driven decisions by developing plans that support all students. She is thankful to the Board of Education for the opportunity to support the teachers and students of Castleberry ISD in this role.
